HOW ENDANGERD ARE THEY

The whales are extremely endangered animals because of commercial fishing and whale hunting. There are also some other reasons that whales are dying out like getting hit by a boat or getting tangled in fishing nets. In Hawaii, they have sea military drills with submarines and every year they do this the whales that live there try to beach themselves because of all the sonar coming from the boats and submarines creating a massive noise.

HOW UNIQUE ARE THEY

They are one of the most unique animals on the planet because they are very smart animals and are very mysterious for several reasons. We really can’t study them because they dive so deep that some submarines can’t get to them. The only time we get to study them is when they are closer to the surface and when they travel.

THEIR HABITAT

Whales mostly live in the north and south pacific oceans deep in the ocean. Their habitat is being destroyed by boats that leave gas and oil. The big cargo boats pick up krill and other things whales eat.

 WHAT THEY HUNT AND EAT

Whales hunt and eat various types of marine life like krill, fish, shrimp, larvae, crabs and squid. To hunt their pray they use echo-location.     

HUMAN INVOLVEMENT

One of the reasons the whales are so endangered is because we hunt them for their meat and oil  in some countries they use the whale’s oil to make nuclear weapons so we are basically killing  whales so we can make something to destroy each other.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

If you see a beached whale calls your local wild life rescuers or marine zoo. If you don’t have either of them close to where you live call the police and ask them to look for help. While you wait try to keep the whales skin wet because it is very delicate.  

Crocodiles

How endangered are they?

Most crocodiles are not all that endangered but some are extremely close to extinction. Cuban crocodiles are now restricted only to Cuba. They are extremely threatened by habitat destruction and illegal poaching.

How unique are they?

All crocodiles are tremendously unique. The reason they have been living for more than millions and millions of years is there blood. Their blood can cure a disease that has no real cure.  Basically the blood eats the disease away. That is one reason they have lived for a long time. 

Their habitat

Crocodiles like to live in warm habitats. They spend most of their time in the water but when they need to warm up they sit on the bank of the river. They also like to live in marsh areas.

What do they hunt and eat

The crocodile  is a carnivore they are actually very smart hunters they are mostly ambush predators  but when they get the chance they watch their pray observing them like when they sleep, eat and leave that makes them incredibly smart.

Human involvement

The human involvement in the crocodile’s life is HUGE. Like when the now young crocs are looking for a territory they sometimes end up in a suburban area and are trapped and killed. They also are hunted for competitions.

What you can do:

If you help save the one animal that has been living for millions of years you would have helped saved the greatest and oldest animal on earth. That alone is the best award you can ever  get.

Fossa

How endangered they are?

The Fossa is a highly endangered animal. They have very little hope to live as a species. The number of their population is 2,500.

How unique are they?

They are unique because they climb trees, they use strategy to hunt and they only live in Madagascar and they are the biggest predator on the continent.

Their habitat

The Fossa lives in trees on the island of Madagascar. However, they can also move around on the land.

 What they hunt or eat?

The Fossa is a carnivore. It eats lemurs that are indigenous to Madagascar. They are also the biggest predator on Madagascar and hunt other medium-sized animals.

Human involvement

The locals of Madagascar hunt the Fossa because they think of them as pests and do not value them.  The Fossa has no natural predators but the locals are a big threat and use them for human medicine. I don’t know what is on them that would help the locals besides their meat.  

What you can do:

Although there are people who want to kill them there are people who want to save them too, but they can’t do it themselves. So they need your help to save the Fossa.

Dear readers,

My name is Conner I’m 13 years old and in grade 8. I like books, nature and photography. I put nature and photography together because they are my two favourite things to do. I like nature because it is a beautiful thing to look at and study. But nature is in trouble because of us and if we don’t stop taking it for granted we will eventually have no world. The animals are being effected the most because we are destroying their habitats. If the animals die, like the bee, the whole food chain will collapse and everything will be effected. The plants will die and then we and other animals will die because they have nothing to eat so they die then all the carnivores including us will die. That is one of the many examples of how that extinction of species effects our planet and human existence on earth. The animals I’m going to tell you about are all on the brink of extinction they are the Bee, Whale, Fossa, Crocodile, Flying Snake and Gorilla they are some of many other animals that are endangered. I picked these 6 animals because I thought you would find them interesting. This blog will tell you what they eat and hunt, talk about their habitat, how big they are, how unique they are and most importantly how endangered they are. I hope you find this blog interesting.
